In March 2010, humanitarian mine clearance in Sri Lanka heavily ramped up across the northern districts to safely resettle over 300,000 displaced people following the civil war's end. Around 1,000 army de-miners and international groups cleared nearly 200 square kilometers, backed by funding from the US, Japan, Australia, and India.
