Rotarian Help To People In Need In Marchihue.
Together with Óscar López, Secretary for the District 4320 R.I., Jessica Díaz and Omar Gómez, both Rotarians from Club Huelén of District 4340; we went to Marchigüe.
These fellow Chileans, very resilient people, welcomed us with warm smiles, despite having lost everything. When we gave them the survival boxes, they received them with indescribable thanks. Helping them has been a very rewarding experience.
To get to the places where they live, which as of now have no working roads because of the floods, we walked along footpaths that had been blocked. Many of them do not have a way to get to the nearest town to stock up, since they’d need to walk for miles.
We also met a group of people from Rancagua whom were also delivering aid: food, water and toys for the children.
They were also helping them to rebuild their houses. The water wells can’t be used. Together with my friend Oscar, after a day of more than 12 hours of work, we returned to our homes really happy of being Rotarians and being able to help, if it’s just with a small aid, these hardworking and grateful fellow countrymen.
Yours sincerely, EGD Jorge Vega Díaz, District 4320 R.I.,RC Valparaiso
