EarthquakeIn May 2016, Ecuador was struck by two powerful earthquakes measuring 6.7 and 6.8 magnitude on May 18, which were severe aftershocks of the catastrophic 7.8-magnitude earthquake that devastated the country just a month earlier on April 16.The primary April 2016 earthquake remains Ecuador's worst natural disaster in decades, causing at least 676 deaths and over 27,000 injuries. The May 18 aftershocks caused further panic, resulted in at least one additional death, injured 85 people, and caused localized structural damage.

Ecuador  March  2008  - Floods Ecuador experienced some of its worst flooding in over two decades, driven by continuous, torrential rainfall amplified by the La Niña climate phenomenon. The devastating floods and landslides heavily impacted 13 of the country's 24 provinces (primarily coastal lowlands like Los Ríos, Esmeraldas, Manabí, Guayas, and El Oro), resulting in 22 confirmed deaths, over 315,000 affected citizens, and roughly $45 million in economic damage
