Cholera - 200 Boxes
Zimbabwe 2009
The 2008–2009 Zimbabwe cholera epidemic was the largest and deadliest outbreak in African history, resulting in 98,596 suspected cases and 4,369 deaths. Spreading across all 10 provinces, the crisis was triggered by the total collapse of the country's water, sanitation, and healthcare infrastructure.
Following aggressive international aid efforts and the establishment of local treatment centers, the number of weekly cases dropped significantly by late May 2009. By July 2009, after several weeks with no new infections reported, the Ministry of Health and Child Welfare officially declared the outbreak over.
