SUDAN CONFLICT – WORKING WITH INTERNATIONAL MEDICAL CORPS
Following the
outbreak of armed conflict in April involving rival
factions of the military government in Sudan, tens of
thousands have been killed or injured, some 2.6 million
had been internally displaced and 730,000 others had fled
the country as refugees. The International Medical
Corps (IMC) has worked in Sudan since 2004, providing
health, nutrition, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH)
services. Sudan, once the largest and one of the most
geographically diverse states in Africa, split into two
countries in July 2011, after the people of the south
voted for independence.
Today, tribal conflict and inter-communal violence
continue to severely affect civilians, especially women
and children. Millions remain in displacement camps,
relying almost entirely on humanitarian aid for basic
services.
Since 2015 Rotary charity Water Survival Box has partnered
with IMC providing consignments of Water Survival Boxes
(WSBS) for displaced families in the Bahamas, Puerto Rico,
the Philippines, Ukraine, the Yemen, Somalia and Turkey.
Our latest consignment of 200 WSBs is now on its way to
Sudan where the in-country IMC team will ensure
distribution to families most in need.
Friday 1st of September 2023 - We have just heard from the International Medical Corp.who are organising the transportation of the 200 Water Survival Boxes on route to Sudan. The aid boxes have now arrived in Jordan but are encountering some slight delays. The IMC in-country team are working through the complexities and should have the shipment on its way to Port Sudan shortly.
As soon as the boxes arrive and are distributed
we will post the news on this page. Thank you for your
support.
Wednesday 2nd August 2023 - To help bring relief to the people of Sudan who’s country is suffering from a mixture of national disasters and internal conflict, 200 Water Survival Boxes leave our warehouse in England bound for Sudan. A special thank you to International Medical Corps-Sudan for helping to make this shipment possible. Follow this page to track their journey and on arrival their distribution.
